is committed to furthering Tribal Justice by skillfully handling matters involving both Tribal and Indian Law. Attorney Karen L. Costello began her career in North Dakota, serving the Spirit Lake Lakota Nation through the Indian Law Project of the University of North Dakota School of Law. She then practiced for several years in Wisconsin, mainly among the Lake Superior Bands of Chippewa Indians, and the Potawatomi Indian Tribe.
She has handled several Tribal Law matters in Oregon and Washington, as well, and has appeared in the Tribal Courts of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians, and the Yakama Nation. She has extensive experience advising and representing tribes and tribal members, nationally and locally, both in individual cases and in matters of legal policy and justice systems development. Ms. Costello is currently serving as Associate Judge of the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Indians.
